A collaboration between UConn and seven Cuban institutions looked at the impact of social determinants in the onset of cancer, obesity, HIV, and addiction, which are significant public health problems in both Cuba and the US. They recently published a paper on the fruitful connections and systemic exchanges between both countries in Revista Cubana de Salud Pública (Cuban Journal of Public Health).
