Biographical Note:

Bethsaida Nieves received her Ph.D. in Curriculum Theory and Research with a Ph.D. minor in the History of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has taught and worked on collaborative research projects at the School of Education, the Institute for Research on Poverty, and the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is currently a faculty affiliate with the UConn Collaboratory on School and Child Health (CSCH) at the Institute for Collaboration on Health, Intervention, and Policy (InCHIP). Dr. Nieves recently became a Community Advisory Board Member for the Federally Qualified Health Center Intervention for Continuous Glucose Monitoring Uptake in Hispanic Adults with Type 1 Diabetes program, which is directed by Kelley Newlin Lew, DNSc, ARNP-C, CDE, Associate Professor at the UConn School of Nursing.

Her current publications examine historical and contemporary issues of education, public health, governmentality, eugenics, and biopolitics in Puerto Rico.
